39 km for one voter Election officials will decide the journey

Itanagar. A day before Arunachal Pradesh goes to the polls for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on April 19, a team of election officials from Enjwa district will walk 39 kilometers to the remote Malogam village so that the lone voter there, 44-year-old Sokela Tayang, can exercise her franchise. Can do. For Taiyang, a temporary polling center will be set up in this village adjacent to the China border.
According to election officials, there are very few families in Malogam, but there are registered voters at all other polling stations except Tayang. Tayang is not willing to be shifted to any other polling station.
Officials said the election team, including election officials and security personnel, will undertake the arduous journey from Hayuliang to Malogam amid unpredictable weather so that Tayang can cast his vote. Tayang is a voter of Hayuliang assembly constituency and Arunachal East Lok Sabha constituency.
He said, 'The election team may have to remain there from 7 am to 5 pm on the polling day, because we do not know when Tayang will come to vote.'
Although Tayang's daughter and son study in colleges elsewhere, they (Tayang) remain connected with Malogam. Tayang said, 'I hardly stay in my village... I usually come for some work or during elections. Normally, I live in Wakro in Lohit district, where we have a farm.
